Continuous education ordinance
The general meeting of the Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys,
Considering that:
- the Patent Act 1995 (Rijksoctrooiwet 1995 - ROW'95) describes the profession of Patent Attorney and the statutory requirements which a Member of the Institute of Patent Attorneys must meet;
- under Art. 23d paragraph 2 the Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys has the task of promoting good professional conduct by the members and their professional competence;
- Art. 23h paragraph 4(d) of the Patent Act 1995 provides the option for the
General Meeting of the Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys to adopt ordinances designed to keep the members' knowledge and insight up to date with regard to Industrial Property; - the Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys believes that it is important that an ordinance as described in Art. 23h paragraph 4(d) of the Patent Act 1995 be adopted which describes and stipulates the requirements imposed on its members with regard to Continuous Education;
has resolved as follows:
Art. 1
The following definitions apply in this Ordinance:
a. Institute:
The Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys
b. Member:
ordinary member of the Institute
c Continuous Education:
Any form of refresher or additional training to bring and keep the professional knowledge of the Members of the Institute up to date.
d. Year:
A calendar year
Art. 2
Every Member is obliged to keep his/her professional knowledge up to date by means of Continuous Education.
Art 3
In order to record the Continuous Education undertaken by the Members each Member must keep a log of the relevant courses, symposia and other events which he/she has attended in each Year. A Member must make this log available to the Supervisory Council on request. Each Member must keep this log for at least five Years.
Art. 4
This Ordinance can be cited as the Patent Attorneys Continuous Education Ordinance 2005.
